Join Lyman Allyn for a day of music and art for Make Music Day 2025!
Make Music New London is a part of the international Make Music Day movement which brings free, outdoor musical celebrations to hundreds of cities worldwide. Every year, the celebration is held on June 21, the summer solstice, in more than 1,000 communities around the world.
Lyman Allyn Schedule:
1-2 pm: Zoe Vandermeer, Harpist
3-4 pm: Mystic Woodwinds
Musician Bios:
Zoe Vandermeer is a coloratura soprano, harpist, and composer. She specializes in music of the baroque, classical, and bel canto repertoire and her own original compositions. Ms. Vandermeer has performed as a singing harpist at the Rio International Harp Festival Brazil, International Festival de Deia Spain, Glasgow International Early Music Festival, Connecticut Early Music Festival, Bloomington Early Music Festival, American Harp Society, Somerset Harp Festival, and elsewhere. She has been on the Roster of the CT Commission on Culture and Tourism since 2011 and in 2014, she won First Place in the B. Alexander International Vocal Competition held in Carnegie Hall. In 2022, she received the Silver Medal for her singing and composition by Global Music Awards. In 2023, she won Second Place in the London Classical Competition, Vocal Division, and in 2024, Ms. Vandermeer was a Quarter-Finalist in the World Harp Competition featuring her own compositions.
Mystic Winds features musicians Karen Ciccone on flute, Kristen Boyer on oboe, Rob Breen on clarinet, Katrina Gottlieb on french horn, Carl Chudy on bassoon. These very active musicians can be found in various orchestras, jazz bands, concert bands, chamber groups and pit orchestras throughout CT. They combine their talent to entertain you with music by Bach, Vaughan Williams, Debussy, Cambini. Come enjoy the classic sounds of Mystic Winds.
