This event is dedicated to celebrating Drew’s remarkable commitment to service over 25 years. Drew honorably served in the United States Army, holding various positions and making an undeniable impact on countless individuals, including his juniors, peers, and seniors.
Drew began his career as a junior enlisted Air Traffic Controller (ATC) and soon transitioned to becoming a Warrant Officer. He attended flight school at Mother Rucker, now Novosel, and went on to serve at Fort Drum, Hawaii, and Hunter Army Airfield as a Kiowa pilot. His dedication and expertise earned him the role of Troop Standardization Pilot.
When the Army retired its most capable Aerial Scout platform, Drew transitioned to the Apache community, leaving his mark there as well. He completed an AH-64D transition and became an IPC and embarked on the second half of his career. Drew served as a Troop Standardization Pilot and Master Gunner at Hunter, then advanced to Squadron Standardization and Brigade Master Gunner roles at Fort Hood.
Over the course of six combat deployments across both airframes and in a variety of roles, Drew proved himself as an invaluable leader and mentor. Ultimately, he returned to his roots, serving as the Chief of Standards at the one and only 1-14th. Drew’s influence on Army Aviation and the lives he touched is immeasurable; his retirement marks a significant loss to the community.
As with any great man of commitment, there is a family standing strong behind him. Drew’s wife, Sandra, and daughters, Kaylee, Cassie, and Kendall, have supported him through the years. Their sacrifice of time and shared moments allowed Drew to dedicate himself to his work, and for that, we thank them wholeheartedly.
Although retired, Drew’s journey with Army Aviation is far from over. He will continue to shape the next generation of aviators as a contract instructor at Hanchey. Please join us in celebrating his well-deserved retirement and the start of this new chapter in his career!
