Kōwhaiwhai & The Land: Painting Stories of Nature with Roni Petley

Immerse yourself in the beauty of kōwhaiwhai design and its deep connection to the environment in this interactive workshop. You'll explore traditional patterns and their meanings before bringing them to life through collaborative painting on wood.

Then, unleash your creativity by designing your own unique piece on harakeke paper—a special artwork to take home and cherish.

There may also be an opportunity to see some wood carving, offering an even deeper insight into Māori artistry and craftsmanship. (Time permitting)

A good attention span is essential—unless you want your kōwhaiwhai looking abstract!

This workshop is for ages 13 and above.
