A 10.5 mile (17km) circular route through the district of Pendle, in the Forest of Bowland, from Barrowford. This is a somewhat shorter and more pleasant route than that we took for the Challenge Trail Training walk earlier in the year.
We'll head up and over the hill to the village of Roughlee and pass along the river to Barley; both villages are steeped in Pendle Witches folklore, with the iconic hill of Pendle in sight.
A moderate walk, with 360m / 1000ft elevation gain, which will be taken at a leisurely pace, with plenty rest breaks. We would expect this to take around 6 hours.
Well behaved, friendly (with people and other dogs) dogs are welcome, but must be agile enough to climb stiles or small enough to be lifted. Please also note that we will be passing through many fields of sheep, so be prepared to have your dog on a lead for some of this route.
Children aged approx. 10+ are also welcome.
This small-group guided walk is professionally led by Abi, a qualified Mountain Leader and Outdoor First Aider / Mental Health First Aider, with full PL insurance. Booking is essential, places are limited and cost £15 per person.
