About the event

Hand In Hand: An Integration of Classical Horsemanship & Bodywork
Hand In Hand: An Integration of Classical Horsemanship and Bodywork

For the first time ever, renowned horseman Patrick King, founder of the Academy for Classical Horsemanship, and Jim Masterson, creator of The Masterson Method®, unite for a
one-of-a-kind, three-day clinic in Virginia.

Patrick brings a wealth of experience, holding USDF Bronze and Silver Medals and learning
from legendary horsemen like Ray Hunt, Mark Russell, Charles de Kunffy, and Luis Valença. His approach to horsemanship blends classical principles with biomechanics, helping riders develop a deeper connection to their horse’s movement, feel, and timing. This combination of working with the horse on the inside as well as the outside, psychologically and physically, really helps riders to understand a more "total package."

Jim, an internationally recognized equine bodyworker, has worked with elite competitors,
including the US Endurance Team (2006–2014), FEI World Cup riders, and World Equestrian
Games athletes. The Masterson Method® is a breakthrough approach to relieving tension,
improving performance, and enhancing the horse-rider relationship by working with the horse rather than on the horse—an approach that mirrors Patrick’s philosophy of partnership and the willingness of the rider or handler to listen to the horse.

Together, Patrick and Jim will share how to integrate bodywork and groundwork techniques
into training, and delve into interconnection of mental and physical tension and its impact on movement and performance. Participants will learn practical exercises to develop freedom, flexibility, and feel—from the horse’s perspective.

If you want to improve the way your horse moves and feels, mentally and physically and help to unlock the keys to relaxation, you don’t want to miss this clinic!
