About this Event

Meet the Authors! Join us for storytime, conversation, and crafts with four award-winning children’s authors!

SOME DADDIES, written by Carol Gordon Ekster and illustrated by Javiera Maclean Alvarez, is an open-hearted ode to fatherhood, which will give readers new appreciation for how their own fathers and father-figures shine in their own unique ways.

TRUCKER KID, written by Carol Gordon Ekster and illustrated by Russ Cox, is a picture book for truck lovers!

The telling is full of great words and big ideas, and Athena―the child in the book―brings us into her trucker dad's world with great panache. ―Jane Yolen,

ROLLIN’ ON DOWN THE LINE, written by Helen Kampion and Reneė Critcher Lyons and illustrated by Erin McGuire, tells the true story of Lady Bird Johnson’s historic Whistle-Stop journey, making almost fifty stops through eight Southern states in four days.

An engaging whistle-stop tour through an important chapter in women's history —Kirkus

In THE GREAT POLLINATOR COUNT by Susan Edwards Richmond, illustrated by Stephanie Fizer Coleman, Mellie counts insect pollinators with her school’s science club and discovers the rewards of teamwork in community science. This is the third title in Peachtree’s STEM-based picture book series, Community Science Counts!

An informative and beautiful jumping-off point for future scientists. —School Library Journal

MIND OVER MONSTERS by Betsy Uhrig is ‘Gordon Korman meets Scooby-Doo’ when anxiety-prone middle schoolers try a mindfulness app that has them face their fears all too literally in this spooky and humorous middle-grade adventure.

Terrifying and droll…Alongside a mix of physical comedy and poker-faced banter, the author adds dashes of insight into some of anxiety’s causes and coping strategies. —Booklist
