Composing in Faith-Based Film will explore the unique challenges and creative processes involved in scoring music that uplifts, moves, and deepens the impact of faith-driven storytelling. This seminar will explore the vital role of music in guiding audiences toward truth, hope, and inspiration—offering valuable takeaways for anyone passionate about the intersection of art and faith. Whether you're a composer or filmmaker, this session offers valuable insights from some of the leading voices in the genre.
Dan Haseltine is a film/television composer, songwriter,
and children's book author. He is the founding member and primary songwriter of the Award-winning band Jars of Clay, as well as The Hawk in Paris and The River Cryers. He has received 6 Grammy nominations, 3 Grammy Awards, and was the recipient of the Grammy Honors Award for Artist Impact. He is the composer of the multiple award-winning television series The Chosen and films such as The Shift, The Best Christmas Pageant Ever, Sons of Lwala documentary, and For the Life of the World.
Paul Mills is a multi-award-winning composer and producer who has been creating music for over three decades. Among his 15 feature film scores are the critically acclaimed Woodlawn and the #1-rated inspirational film, War Room, for which he won an ASCAP Screen Music Award in 2016. Among Paul’s score production and mixing credits are No Address, The Forge, Unsung Hero, Jesus Revolution, Awake in the Dawn, and Overcomer. He was named American Songwriter Magazine's 'Christian Producer of the Year and is the recipient of SCL’s Trailblazer Award in 2023.
Jonathan Grow is a Nashville-based pianist and media composer. His career in Nashville spans more than twenty-five years as a session and backing vocalist, pianist, songwriter, and composer. He works as a composer in production music, sync licensing, advertising, and short films. His work can be heard in shows such as Love Transit, NFL Total Access, A Current Affair, and Good Morning Football. Jonathan serves on SCL Nashville’s Steering Committee and chairs SCL’s Seminars Committee for Nashville. Jonathan is a husband, father to three children, and has two dogs. His passion is for telling stories that move and connect people to their own stories through the medium of music.
