Join Nashua Conservation Commission volunteers at NH Audubon’s Farley Meadow Wildlife Sanctuary to kick off NH Audubon’s Nature Challenge. The Challenge aims to inventory all the animals, plants, and fungi found on NH Audubon wildlife sanctuaries from June 22nd to June 28th. We’ll use the free iNaturalist and eBird platforms, which can be downloaded right onto your phone, to record our findings.
Participation in the Challenge is easy:
Step 1: Download the free iNaturalist and eBird apps to your phone.
Step 2: Plan a visit to one of the NH Audubon properties, from June 22 through June 28 to help us create a complete living inventory of our lands.
Step 3: RSVP for the free webinar on June 18, from 6:30-7:30pm
During this upbeat and informational webinar, you will:
• Learn about the NH Audubon Nature Challenge and why we need your help.
• Learn how to register for iNaturalist and eBird if you do not already have an account (both are free to use!) and how to submit valid observations.
• Find out which wildlife sanctuaries are included and some tips on visiting.
Step 4: Join NCC volunteers at Farley Meadow on June 22nd
This is the first ever NH Audubon Nature Challenge. Let’s help make it a success!
We’ll meet in the parking lot behind the Nashua Church of Christ at 97 Farley Road Nashua. This is on the Hollis/Nashua line. The main trail is a fairly level old logging road. There is a section of the trail that will likely be wet. Wear waterproof footwear if you wish to explore beyond that section. There’s plenty to explore without getting your feet wet!
Remember to bring insect protection, binoculars if you have them, your phone with Apps installed, and your curiosity!
