Gamified Programming Learning at Scale: how muggles can escalate to wizards

Discussing the use of gamification in programming education, mixing and blending computer science and digital humanities specialists.

The University of Naples “Parthenope”, Department of Science and Technologies, invites you to participate in the "Gamification in Programming Education 2025" event. This event will discuss the use of gamification in programming education, present the results of the FGPE++ Gamified Programming Learning at Scale ( https://fgpeplus2.usz.edu.pl/), and popularize gamified programming learning.

Skilled programmers are in high demand in the European Union countries, and the critical obstacle to satisfying this demand is the difficulty in learning programming. 

The project aims to provide a framework for applying gamification to programming education.

In this workshop, we present the final results, including the learning tools for the interoperability of gamified programming exercises, the collection of the produced gamified exercises, including exercises for data science, machine learning, and artificial intelligence, and the software for the exercise management, publishing, and evaluation.

The workshop has been designed in twofold:

A presentation of the educational open-source learning tools interoperability for gamified programming education produced by the FGPE++ project, dedicated to programming instructors (both school and university).

An inspirational source for students from schools and universities interested in general-purpose coding, computer science, and engineering.

The event will occur on Wednesday, June 11, 2022, in the Aula Magna.

The presentations will be in Italian and English. It will cover topics ranging from the importance of knowing about coding to artificial intelligence to the creation of educational and fun video games.
