Delta Pedalers Cinco De Mayo Ride (May Away Event)
Hola a todos! (Hello everyone)
The month of May is dedicated to celebrating and honor our cycling friends from the Hispanic/Latino communities! Join us as we ride in and around Napa Valley on a variety of venues on Sunday May 4th! This month’s away ride is “Super Special” it falls on the 1st Sunday of the month which is also the All Club Ride. We are in discussions with the other two groups to have the All Club Ride with us in Napa instead of the local ride. Bruce Walker’s daughter has graciously offered her property/back yard for the lunch festivities.
This year we will have two possible more ride/hike options. The primary ride is up and back to Calistoga, a possible climbing ride Pope Valley and MTB ride or hike to Moore Creek Park. All of the ride or hike options are NO DROP, and they will surely be amazing no matter what adventure you choose!
The 54 mile primary ride to Calistoga cruises along the flats and rollers of the Silverado Trail, if for some reason you’re having a hard day, want a shorter ride and need to cut it short, it’s just a matter of crossing the street (Silverado Trail) and head back. If you do, please let someone know your intentions so we have accountability.
The 60-mile challenge and climbing ride up and over the Pope Valley/Angwin will be led by Minh. Rides will meet and start at the same location as the Calistoga group and splits at Sage Canyon to Pope Valley.
Our MTB riders will meet Carlo and Armando at Moore Creek Park at 7:00am and spin 7:30 am up Moore Creek Trail to Dave’s Wild Ride and back to Valentine Vista for a nice day surfing dirt. This is an intermediate MTB level ride, not for beginner like me! They will then drive back to Bruce’s daughter’s place to join in on the festivities we have planned! If you prefer to hike, Moore Creek Park is an excellent place to explore the wilderness!
Prepare yourself for an authentic amazing Mexican Fiesta post ride lunch. You’ll be treated to a well-deserved hot lunch of tacos, rice, beans, salsa, chips and other goodies, freshly prepared on site by our very own Chef Ale’ Munoz and friends! The lunch main dish is being sponsored by the Delta Pedalers Membership fund! If you want to contribute and bring a side dish to share, please let us know!
Disclaimer: Cycling is inherently a very dangerous sport so everyone participating, rides at their own risk and assumes the liabilities. Helmets required, obey traffic laws, know your limits and ride responsibly. Don’t forget your hydration, ride fuel and items needed for mechanical mishaps. You’ll be able to refuel at the turn around point at Bella Bakery in Calistoga so bring a few $ if you want to purchase any of their wonderful coffee and pastries.
Meet up time and festivity location! Cruise or climbers challenge ride meet at 8:00 am and spin at 8:30am at Bruce’s daughter property (2185 Silverado Trail, Napa 94558). Please carpool if you can, the property has room for 10 cars, and you can also park off the side of Silverado. The MTB riders will meet at Moore Creek Park (2607 Chiles Pope Valley RD, Saint Helena Ca 94574) and start spinning around 7:30am.
Please let us know you’re coming so we can plan ahead on how much food to prepare and how many riders we will have spinning! Come for the ride and stay for the food, fun and friendship. Bring something to drink, or share, a chair and a friend!
