‘League Nanaimo’ Community Event

On Saturday, August 30th, join us for 'League Nanaimo' at May Richards Bennett Pioneer Park!

Engage in creative game making, using sport and imagination to invent new ways of moving, playing, and connecting. Events are free and suitable for all ages and abilities. Drop in anytime from 10am to 1pm.

League is a project led by Vancouver and Salt Spring Island based artist Germaine Koh that unites creative process, games, and sport. Community members gather to invent new games and sports and evolve these through iterative, embodied play. Games evolve organically as they are played, with strategies emerging through trial and improvisation. Commonplace sports and play equipment, markers, and everyday objects are available, and new tools are sometimes invented on the fly.

Don’t forget to experience the 'League Nanaimo' exhibition at Nanaimo Art Gallery from August 1st to October 5th, 2025.
