The Sweetness of Present Moment Experience: Meditation Retreat for Seniors

Mindful Meditation, based on the teachings of the Buddha from 2,500 years ago, has proven particularly beneficial as a means of reducing stress, worry, and anxiety, dealing with many issues of aging, and helping us live life to our full potential. In this gathering of seniors, we will explore the ancient art of abiding in non-doing; letting go of the ‘stickiness’ of past issues and the worries of the future by resting into the serene experience of present-moment awareness. We will begin our day relaxing body and mind by gently paying attention to the simple and beautiful experience of breathing. From there we will explore the cultivation of joyfulness and loving kindness which can become the gateway to a profound sense of well-being; the ability to deal with life’s challenges with peaceful contentment and a heart-felt gratitude for life just as it is.

The day will include guided and silent meditation, simple mindful movement and breathwork suitable for everyone, Buddhist teachings, and creative expression within a supportive community of like-minded peers. This retreat is for beginners as well as those who want to deepen their meditation practice.

Following the Buddhist tradition, the cost of retreats covers the expenses of Bethlehem Centre only. Teachers donate their time freely from their hearts. Although there is no obligation, you have the opportunity to make a donation to the teacher on the day of the retreat.
