CineCentral is calling on local filmmakers, hobbyists, phone shooters, and anyone with an eye for a good story to help us document the incredible Silly Boat Regatta 2025. Whether you’re a CineCentral member or brand new to the idea, everyone is welcome to come out, film what inspires you, and share your footage.
We’ll gather everyone’s clips after the event and cut together a short documentary that shows the magic, madness, and community spirit of Nanaimo’s biggest floating spectacle.
8:00am Boat building begins throughout park
9:00am Community Exhibition Vendor Booths Open in Pavilion area
10:00am Pavilion Stage Entertainment begins
10:15pm Children’s Mini Regatta (Pavilion Area) Children build foam boats and race them in rain gutters
11:00am SBR Team/Boat Judging begins
1:00pm Races Begin

How to participate:
🎥 Come down with any camera or phone on July 20
🎥 Film what you see — short or long clips are fine
🎥 After the event, send us your footage (upload link will be posted soon)
🎥 CineCentral will edit it all together for a community showcase

About the Silly Boat Regatta:
Hosted by the Nanaimo Child Development Centre, this annual event brings together thousands of people to build and race hilariously creative boats while raising funds to support kids with developmental needs.
