Course Overview

Climate change is rapidly transforming our planet with profound implications for both ecological and human systems. Communities worldwide are grappling with its multifaceted impacts which manifest differently across regions sectors and populations. In Africa despite contributing minimally to global greenhouse gas emissions the continent faces disproportionate challenges including rising temperatures prolonged droughts erratic rainfall patterns and increased frequency of extreme weather events.

Addressing these challenges necessitates robust mitigation strategies to reduce emissions and adaptive measures to build resilience against unavoidable impacts. This training program situates local sustainability and development challenges within the broader context of regional and global climate change dynamics. Participants will explore the interlinkages between climate change poverty reduction biodiversity conservation and community resilience aiming to develop localized strategies that foster sustainable development.

Course Objectives

The primary goal of this course is to equip participants with the knowledge and skills to integrate climate change considerations into natural resource management policies programs projects and community-based initiatives.
