アメリカ人と働く日本人向けに特別に設計されたこのセミナーでは、アメリカ人の同僚、顧客、サプライヤー、パートナーとの円滑なやり取りに必要な情報とスキルを提供し、アメリカ人と働くことに関する疑問や懸念事項に対処することを目的としています。自動車業界で豊富な経験を持つロッシェル・カップと家田義也の2名のファシリテーターによって実施される本セミナーは、名古屋地域の参加者にとって特に実践的な内容となっています。セミナーは完全に日本語で行います。

本セミナーにはディスカッションの場が数多く設けられており、ファシリテーターが提供するさまざまな具体例を介して、インタラクティブな内容となっています。アメリカ人と最近働き始めた人、長い間アメリカ人と働いてきて多くの体験と質問のある人の両方に適した、下記を含めたコンテンツをお届けします。

コミュニケーション

• コミュニケーションと対立解決のスタイル（率直、対立を許容、直接的 対立を避ける、間接的）
• 言語的 非言語的コミュニケーション （物事は言葉で明確に説明されているか、それとも行間を読む必要があるか？）

チームワーク

• 権力構造（平等主義 階層主義）：地位によって異なる扱いを受けているか？
• タスク志向 人間関係重視（仕事をやり遂げる vs. 人間関係を重視）
• 個人／集団関係（個人主義 集団志向）

物事を成し遂げる

• リスク傾向（リスク回避 リスク追求）
• 意思決定スタイル（トップダウン 合同 vs. コンセンサス）
• 変化に対する姿勢（伝統と現状維持 進歩と新しさ）

文化的傾向をスケール上にマッピングし、自分がどこに位置するかを確認します。各人が必ずしもその文化の「典型」ではないことを理解しながら、自分自身のスタイルやアプローチを確認し、スケール上で他に位置する人々とのギャップを埋めるための戦略を共有します。そこから学んだことを、アメリカ人との交流にどのように応用するかを計画します。

仕事におけるさまざまな側面で、アメリカ文化に適した英語での自己表現の仕方も学びます。その他、言い訳（と思われるもの）をする傾向や、締め切りを守れない傾向など、日本人がアメリカ人と付き合う際に感じる典型的な不満についても取り上げます。

また参加者は、セミナーで得た学びを今後の業務活動に適用し、それらを成功させるためのアイデアを導き出します。仕事にすぐに応用できる内容になります。

This session is designed for Japanese who are working with Americans to give them the information and skills needed to have smooth and successful interactions with American colleagues, customers, suppliers and partners, and to address any questions and concerns that they have about working with Americans.

The session will be interactive with lots of discussion, and that the facilitators will provide case study examples. It will be helpful both for those who are new to working with Americans, and those who have already worked with Americans for a long time (and have various experiences and questions). The contents include below:

COMMUNICATION

• Communication and Conflict Resolution Style (Out in the Open, Confrontation OK, Direct vs. Avoids Confrontation, Indirect)
• Verbal vs. Non-verbal Communication (Highly Verbal vs. Highly Non-verbal)

TEAMWORK

• Power Structure (Egalitarian vs. Hierarchical)
• Task vs. Relationship Orientation (Get the Job Done vs. Emphasize Relationships)
• Individual/Group Relationship (Individualism vs. Group-oriented)

GETTING THINGS DONE

• Risk Propensity (Risk Avoidance vs. Risk-seeking)
• Decision-making Style (Top-down vs. Combined vs. Consensus)
• Attitude Toward Change (Tradition & Status Quo vs. Progress & Novelty)

Cultural tendencies will be mapped on the scale, and the participants will discuss where they may fall on the scale and how this is likely to affect their interactions with people from other countries. Strategies for bridging gaps on the dimension will be shared and the participants will make plans for how to apply their learnings to their interactions with Americans.

Participants will also learn how to express oneself in English in a way that is appropriate in U.S. culture in various work situations. We will also address some of the typical frustrations that Japanese have in dealing with Americans, such as a tendency to make (what appear to be) excuses and to be loose with deadlines.

The participants will think about how to apply the session contents to their upcoming work activities, ensuring practical application of the contents.
