Creepy Crypt no.98: The People Under the Stairs (OV)

Am 23. August haben wir einen Film im Summer of Craven der auch was für Twin Peaks Fans ist. Wes Craven hat Wendy Robie und Everett McGill für ihre Rollen im dem Fall extra gecastet, nachdem er sie als Paar in der berühmten Serie gesehen hat. Aber auch sonst ist "The People Under the Stairs" natürlich ein sehenswerter Film, der durch wahre Geschehnisse inspiriert wurde.

Der 13-jährige Fool (Brandon Quintin Adams) bricht mit seinem älteren Kumpel LeRoy (Ving Rhames) in ein Haus ein, in dem sich angeblich Gold befindet. Doch das gehört ausgerechnet dem psychopathischen Geschwisterpaar Dad (Everett McGill) und Mom (Wendy Robie, wie sie sich gegenseitig nennen, die bevorzugt heranwachsende Kinder in ihrem Keller gefangen halten. Plötzlich scheint es kein Entkommen mehr aus der Festung zu geben...

On August 23rd, we have a film in the Summer of Craven that will also appeal to Twin Peaks fans. Wes Craven specifically cast Wendy Robie and Everett McGill for their roles in the movie after seeing them as a couple in the famous series. But "The People Under the Stairs" is, of course, a film worth seeing for other reasons too and is inspired by true events.

13-year-old Fool (Brandon Quintin Adams) and his older friend LeRoy (Ving Rhames) break into a house that supposedly contains gold. But it belongs to the psychopathic siblings Dad (Everett McGill) and Mom (Wendy Robie, as they call each other), who prefer to keep adolescent children imprisoned in their basement.
