Accompanied by a talented ensemble of twelve musicians, a chorus group, and a co-singer, the ‘Kutchi Koyal’ (Nightingale of Kutch) takes audiences on an immersive journey of the rich tapestry of Gujarati folk music – reimagined with a contemporary twist!
The concert begins with soulful, traditional tunes, drawing the audience into the mystique of Gujarat’s musical heritage and celebrating its spirit, beauty, and diversity. The songs unfold as melodic stories against a dynamic backdrop inspired by Gujarat's landscapes, festivals, and artistry, bridging the past and the present.
As the performance progresses, fusion arrangements introduce layers of rhythm and harmony, building energy and momentum. Along the way, authentic Gujarati melodies share space with some popular Rajasthani music, as Indian instruments like dholak, tabla and sitar blend seamlessly with contemporary ones like electric guitar, keyboard, and bass. Geeta Rabari's powerful vocals, complemented by a harmonious chorus bring depth and vibrancy to each piece, gently guiding the audience through a plethora of emotions. The evening crescendos with upbeat garba and dandiya numbers, invoking the joyful spirit of Gujarat’s festivals and inviting everyone to join in the rhythm and celebration. Geeta Rabari rose to fame in 2017 with her hit debut track ‘Rona Ser Ma’. Her deep connection to folk traditions and mesmerising voice quickly earned her a dedicated fanbase. Subsequently she released the now-beloved ‘Eklo Rabari’ and lent her voice to songs like ‘Desi Dhol Vage’, ‘Masti ma Mastani’, ‘Swift Gaadi Farava Motor Car’, ‘Taklif to Revani’ and more. The celebrated singer has played a vital role in popularising Gujarati folk music on national and global platforms.
