Bhakti Kala Kshetra

A Devotional Centre for the Performing Arts Bhakti Kala Kshetra, was established by His Divine Grace A.C.Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in 1978.

He wanted a first-class public auditorium in Mumbai where talented artists could channel their creative energy through devotional dance, songs, and other arts. Bhakti Kala Kshetra organises a "Shastra & Sangeet" program every Sunday, which attracts young artists from all over India and abroad. Aspiring artists who want to dedicate their creativity to promote God consciousness among the people are welcome to approach the director of Bhakti Kala Kshetra.

The principal purpose of Bhakti Kala Kshetra is to promote performing arts and kindle the dormant devotion in each and every human being. We have been presenting concerts, plays, dances, bhajan albums and other art forms that convey devotion to Lord Sri Krishna and other incarnations of Lord Krishna.

Besides being a showplace for India's venerable artists, Bhakti Kala Ksetra also promotes aspiring artistes from new ballet and drama companies.  Many of them who performed at the Bhakti Kala Kshetra Radha Krishna Utsav obtained the blessings of the Lord and thereafter blossomed into successful artists. To name a few, Ravi Shankar, Protima Bedi, Vyajayantimala, Hema Malini, Anup Jalota, and countless others began their careers here, and later became famous artists. 

Bhakti Kala Kshetra also gave international exposure to performers who presented charity shows in foreign countries.

"Radha Krishna Utsav"

The Radha Krishna Utsav, organised by the Bhakti Kala Kshetra, takes place every Janmashtami. This utsav brings together performers of the highest caliber from all over India and gives them the opportunity to use their God-gifted talents in His service.

The Radha-Krsna Utsav is a devotional festival. The performers sing and dance only in praise of the Lord.  In this way not only are the artists satisfied but others also benefit, because mankind can develop bhakti and achieve the highest spiritual happiness by hearing devotional songs. The Bhakti Kala Kshetra fulfills Srila Prabhupada's desire to see everyone, without discrimination of caste and creed, have this spiritual experience.
