THE CONCEPT

KidZania is a global indoor theme park for families that empowers, inspires and educates kids through real-life role-playing activities. By blending reality with entertainment, KidZania provides an authentic and powerful developmental platform, preparing kids to understand and manage their world better. KidZania believes it can promote change, inspire global citizenship and build strong community awareness amongst children through an experience that is hands-on, engaging, and most importantly, fun.

KidZania emulates the workings of a real city but built to scale for children. KidZania gives children an environment that allows them to do what naturally comes to them: role-playing by emulating real-life professions and activities.

As in the real world, children perform "jobs" and are either paid for their work (as a Stylist, Construction Engineer, RJ, Surgeon, CSI Agent etc.) or pay to get a service (University, Culinary School, Department Store, Driving School etc.)

ROLE PLAY

Role-playing is a timeless and universal childhood activity across the globe. It is an embedded behavior in children and is an essential ingredient in the KidZania experience.

KidZania gives children the opportunity to play roles by allowing them to emulate, re-enact and participate in activities and experiences. While role-playing is fun, it also has positive educational, psychological and motivational benefits.

KidZania has taken the basic concept of role-playing to its maximum and built a whole city around it. KidZania has taken role-playing, which is great fun for kids, and combined it with a real life experiences. This makes KidZania a unique educational city which stimulates creative thinking and boosts levels of self-esteem and self-confidence.

KIDZOS

Just like any other nation, the KidZania nation also has its own currency called kidZos. Kids can spend, save or earn kidZos.

Kids get a traveller’s cheque on entry to KidZania which they can en-cash at the Bank for kidZos. They can open a savings account the Bank in KidZania to save their kidZos and earn interest! On opening an account they also get a Debit Card which they can use through the city.

Kids get paid in kidZos for role-playing various jobs and they pay kidZos to avail services or purchase items from the department store at KidZania.

EXPERIENCE

KidZania offers an authentic, powerful developmental experience, and helps children understand and manage the world they are growing up in.

KidZania is a city for kids, and this experience is made complete with buildings, paved streets, vehicles and recognizable role-playing destinations in the form of "establishments". Industries from the real world are recreated via establishments such as: hospital, fire station, beauty salon, bank, radio station, TV Studio, supermarket, restaurant, car dealership, theatre and much more. Further, local culture and diversity reflects in establishments like the Bollywood - Acting Academy, the Culinary School, the Pottery studio, Kala Kshetra - Culture Hub etc. In all, KidZania Mumbai offers kids 60+ role-playing options through many such establishments.

"Zupervisors" are on hand at every establishment. Zupervisors are KidZania's adult staff members who guide and ensure kids understand and perform their respective activities properly and accomplish their tasks, in the establishments as they work and play.

Personal experience is a powerful learning tool. Through each activity at KidZania, kids learn about how society functions, imbibe financial literacy, experience adult professions, team work, independence, self-esteem and build real life skills. Activities are completely hands-on to provide the most contextual and engaging learning experience.

EDUCATIONAL VALUE

Role-playing is a universal form of play enjoyed by children all over the world. Role-playing is fun and has very positive educational, psychological and motivational benefits. Psychologists, educators and play experts are consulted during the development of KidZania role-play activities with focus on creativity, critical thinking, communication, confidence, and collaboration.

Kids acquire real life skills, learn about working and having a career and are introduced to the fundamentals of financial literacy. THE KIDZANIA STORY

KidZania's content is rooted in an inspirational story of idealistic kids that formed a like-minded community, which led to the creation of a nation, their own government and nationalistic symbols to celebrate their unity.

From a kid's perspective things were just not going as well as they could be. Something had to be done as their concern started to grow and spread all around the world. The plan was finally set and the kids got together to build their dream city. The kids then defined their 6 fundamental rights - To Be, To Know, To Care, To Create, To Share and To Play. And like any nation, the kids also penned down the ‘Declaration of Independence' as a proclamation of their sovereignty and independence from adults.

Thus was born a nation called KidZania and every year 10th September marks its Independence Day across the globe!

The RightZkeepers

Urbano the ingenious, Beebop the artist, Chika the friendly, Vita the nature lover and Bache, their fun and affectionate puppy together are the RightZkeepers of KidZania. These characters represent the ideals which are the foundation of KidZania's reason for being. Each of them represents one of the six rights - Urbano represents the Right To Know, Beebop - The Right To Create, Vita - The Right to Care, Chika - The Right To Share and Bache - The Right To Play. Together they are entrusted with the Right To Be!
