The legendary Sai Paranjpye takes centre stage at the NCPA, offering a delightful medley of gems from her vast repertoire across theatre, television and film. Darwal (fragrance) is a two-and-a-half-hour solo showcase in which the acclaimed writer-director will present excerpts from her plays, film scripts, short stories and essays in her inimitable style, blending satire, sharp observations and tender social commentary.
Having started her journey as a presenter with the All India Radio, Poona[VP1] [SH2] , Paranjpye was honoured with the Padma Bhushan in 1986. She now returns to the mic xyz years later[SH3] , rekindling her voice with theatrical flair.
Predominantly performed in Marathi, with touches of Hindi and English, Darwal promises to be an enriching and entertaining experience.
