Advitiya Dharohar: India & Beyond India

Curated by Dr. Usha RK, this thematic dance production brings to life five of Muthuswamy Dikshitar’s visionary compositions, bridging tradition, philosophy, and musical innovation.

What makes a composer truly timeless? Perhaps it’s the ability to speak across eras, cultures, and disciplines, something visionary composer Muthuswamy Dikshitar mastered over two centuries ago. This specially curated production revisits five of his compositions, each offering a glimpse into the vast intellectual and spiritual landscape of Indic thought. From elemental energies to planetary deities, sacred spaces to Western harmonies, Dikshitar’s work transcends geography and time.

Conceptualised by arts consultant Dr. Usha RK, renowned for her decades-long contribution to Indian classical arts—the performance unfolds thematically, with each piece introduced through narration and presented through solo, duet, or group works in Bharatanatyam and Kuchipudi. The format blends meaning, movement, and music, drawing the audience into a journey through devotion, rhythm, and philosophy.

The cast features Keerthana Ravi performing a Pancha Bhuta piece on the water element; Mithun Shyam interpreting a Manipravala composition dedicated to Goddess Abhayamba; and Ayana Mukherjee presenting a rain-themed work invoking the monsoon. Also featured are Yogesh Kumar and Sneha Narayan performing a Navagraha piece on Surya, and Guru Raju in the ensemble presentation of Nottuswaram.

Accompanied live by Sujesh Menon (vocal), Kalishwaran Pillai (nattuvangam), Dakshinamurthy Pillai (mridangam), and A. Ravi (violin), the performance is a reflection on how Indian classical arts continue to evolve, bridging tradition and innovation through the enduring brilliance of Bharatiya Gyaan and Vigyaan.
