Freedom Before Emancipation: Family Day for Juneteenth

Join Mount Vernon as we celebrate Juneteenth by remembering how enslaved people resisted enslavement and sought freedom before the Emancipation Proclamation.

See special character performances from actors portraying Ona Judge Christopher Sheels and Hercules Posey. Plus take a tour of the estate watch spinning cooking and blacksmith demonstrations and honor the lives of the enslaved at a commemoration ceremony.

The event is included with general admission and is free for Mount Vernon members.
