Charleston Hope is a nonprofit organization dedicated to transforming the lives of students by prioritizing mental and behavioral health support within under-resourced schools. Founded in 2012 with a focus on student enrichment in Title 1 schools, Charleston Hope quickly became a trusted presence in the lives of children and educators. But as their work deepened, they recognized a larger, more urgent need: students were struggling emotionally and behaviorally, without the support systems they needed to thrive. This realization led to a powerful shift in 2022, when Charleston Hope refocused its mission to ensure every child has access to the mental and behavioral health support they need to thrive—inside and outside the classroom.

Through their Step-In afterschool program, they launched school-based therapy, group counseling, and a mental health-infused enrichment curriculum designed to help students heal, grow, and build resilience. By integrating these services directly into schools, Charleston Hope has provided thousands of hours of therapy, creating safe spaces where children feel seen, supported, and empowered. Their vision is a world where every student, regardless of their background or circumstances, has the emotional tools and resources to reach their full potential.
