“Mission Road Set for Good Trouble: Mt. Pleasant Marchers Channel John Lewis, Reject Abductions and Authoritarian Buffoonery”
On July 17th, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., the sidewalks of Mission Road are about to become a runway for democracy as Mt. Pleasant locals line up to declare, in the spirit of the late John Lewis, that it’s time for some Good Trouble — the kind that rattles cages but stays firmly on the right side of history.
Participants will be waving signs, blowing noisemakers, and sending the unmistakable message that this community is NOT signing off on the abduction of community members, the elimination of healthcare, or the decimation of public services by the Current Regime. Because, believe it or not, safe air to breathe and safe water to drink are still popular ideas around here.
Organizers want it peaceful — because John Lewis taught us that getting into Good Trouble doesn’t require a wrestling match with hecklers. So stay on the sidewalks, steer clear of driveways, and save your energy for defending democracy.
Bring your courage, your compassion, and maybe a kazoo. After all, as Congressman Lewis said: “Never, ever be afraid to make some noise and get in good trouble, necessary trouble.”
