This year is a very special year for our Bolivian community, the Catholic Church and pilgrims around the world. Please join us for a special celebration of Bolivia’s Bicentennial, Centenary of the Coronation of Our Lady of Copacabana as Patroness of Bolivia and Jubilee 2025.
2025 is a Jubilee year in the Catholic Church. It is an opportunity for pilgrims around the world to receive a plenary indulgence. The 2025 Jubilee themed “Pilgrims of Hope” will involve a focus on forgiveness, reconciliation and a renewed sense of hope and trust. As we also celebrate Bolivia’s Bicentennial - 200 years of Independence it is a chance to come together as a community and Bolivian pilgrims in Australia to give thanks for what we have and experience here in Australia and to pray for Bolivia and our families back home as they live through very difficult and challenging times.
Our Lady of Copacabana is a symbol of devotion that unites all Bolivians around the world. Please join us for this celebration that will include:
* Pilgrim’s Mass with the Bishop of Wollongong who will recognise our community and impart a Papal blessing for all pilgrims to receive a Plenary Indulgence as part of the 2025 Jubilee year.
* Pilgrim’s Parade to the shrine and chapel chapel where dancers from Sabor Boliviano Sydney - SS, Amor Bolivia and Las Intocables will dance carnival style as is custom at such events in Bolivia.
* Community lunch and bolivian music by our resident musicians Los Cumpas. To participate in the lunch please bring a plate of food to share.
