What is Camp Mend-A-Heart:
Camp Mend-A-Heart breaks the isolation many children feel when trying to deal with grief. Our age-appropriate grief groups provide a safe space to share. Our hands-on activities allow additional ways to express grief. This camp is FREE to any eligible child age 6 to 12 that has experienced the loss of a loved one, regardless of income. It is a Day Camp from 9:00a to 3:30p at Solid Rock Bible Camp*.
Our camp ratio is one adult to two campers, insuring caring support for each camper. While providing support and tools for the campers, we also have a lot of fun. There are options for swimming, horseback riding, and many other fun activities!
Healing from grief is laughter as well as tears. We have a good mixture of both.
Hospice has been putting on the camp for many years. If you know of a child/youth who would benefit from our camp give us a call at 907.262.0453 or stop by the office at 35911 Kenai Spur Hwy, Unit 9, Soldotna, AK and pick up an application, OR download a copy of the application and drop it off at the office.
Space for camp is limited! Apply today for your camper(s)! Deadline for applications is July 8, 2025
Volunteers are always welcome. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and able to pass a State of Alaska background check. Volunteers are required to have proof of recent TB Test or will be asked to be tested (via Hospice expense). No experience with grief support necessary.
Contact the office if you would like to join our team.
*While the camp is held at Sold Rock Bible Camp, CMAH is unaffiliated with Solid Rock Bible Camp. CMAH is NOT a faith based camp.
This year's camp is made possible by a grant from the Camps Initiative at The Alaska Community Foundation in partnership with Rasmuson Foundation.
