Leeds, AL – July 2025 – The Leeds Historical Society, in partnership with the Mid-South Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society, is pleased to announce the grand opening of a new exhibit, Terminal Station: Birmingham’s Great Temple of Travel, at the Historic Leeds Depot.
This special event will take place on Saturday, August 2, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., and will feature a compelling new exhibit that explores the architectural splendor and historic significance of Birmingham’s iconic Terminal Station. A preview and ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held the day prior, on Friday, August 1, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., at the Leeds Depot.

A Collaborative Effort in Preservation
The Historic Leeds Depot is owned and maintained by the City of Leeds, which leases the facility to the Leeds Historical Society for public programming and historical interpretation. The Mid-South Chapter of the Railway & Locomotive Historical Society subleases the Agent’s Office and exhibit room, where this new display will be permanently installed.
