On Monday, Michael Scardaville will present the conclusion of his talk about the potential of Buddhist practice. Through personal experience and insights from various traditions, he will continue to take us on his 30-year journey during which he learned that Buddhism offers more than a way to reduce stress and anxiety, improve sleep, reduce emotional reactivity, and enhance creativity. While those are laudable outcomes, our practice can be so much more than that, as it can be a transformative path which can enable us to open to our True Nature and live from our heart. Over time, we come to realize that we already possess what we are looking for and that our practice is simply a matter of coming home to a heart that is already awakened. During the discussion, we can explore together the nature of our respective paths to wholeness and to our authentic self.
You did not have to hear the first part of this talk to appreciate the topics that will be addressed Monday evening, as Michael will summarize the main points in his opening talk. Since this will be Michael’s last dharma talk at The Social Sangha, or anywhere, please know that he will also discuss how two core Buddhist teachings, accepting what is and letting go, played a key role in his decision to step down from teaching. Spoiler alert: it wasn’t as easy as you think.
