Members of the Kingston, Montréal, Ottawa and Toronto Urban Sketchers (USk) chapters will get together in Montréal for an afternoon of sketching.
We will sketch in the area around Locks 1 and 2 of the Lachine Canal National Historic Site in the Old Port of Montréal. The canal was an essential link for shipping between the port of Montréal and the Great Lakes and is still open today for recreational boating. This year is the 200th anniversary of the Lachine Canal.
This historic district offers fabulous subjects to sketch. Within walking distance from our meeting place you will find vestiges of 17th and 18th century New France, remnants of intense industrial activity in the 19th century, and contemporary landmarks in the development of the port area for heritage and tourism.
There are museums, monuments, cafés, parks, shops, cobblestone streets, and lots of people to sketch!
(See Map with details & photos of suggested places to sketch -- in "Discussion" for this event.)
