Sénégal
Un spectacle des Frères Sissokho, c’est une réunion de famille aux rythmes des djembés, des doun-douns et de la kora, à laquelle le public est convié. Un peu de Sabar par ci. Du Mbalax par là. On chante, on danse, on improvise sur fond de traditions transmises de génération en génération. On rit, on s’amuse. On sent presque l’odeur du Tiep fumant et le goût du jus de bissap. On apprécie les moments de pure beauté où opère la magie de la kora. Où le son du tama hypnotise. Car les Frères Sissokho sont des griots. Et s’ils peuvent explorer la musique sous toutes ses coutures sans se perdre, c’est parce que leurs racines sont profondes et qu’ils ont l’intime conscience de devoir en préserver l’héritage.

A concert by the Frères Sissokho is a joyful reunion to the rhythms of the djembe, dundun and kora, to which everyone is invited. A bit of sabar here, of mbalax there… it’s all about singing, dancing, and improvising against a backdrop of traditions handed down from generation to generation. Come and join in the fun and laughter! You will be able to almost smell the steaming hot tiep fare and taste the refreshing hibiscus drink, the traditional jus de bissap, and simply appreciate beautiful moments as the kora works its magic alongside the mesmerizing rhythms of the talking drum. There is no mistaking it, the Sissokho brothers are griots. Their roots run deep and they are keenly aware of the need to preserve their heritage, which allows them to explore the music in all its dimensions without getting lost.
