Session 1 (June 4): Body-centered Strategies for Managing Stress and Anxiety
Oftentimes, stress and anxiety are accompanied by uncomfortable physical sensations, including rapid heartbeat, shortness of breath, feeling dizzy, muscle tension, to name a few.
In this first session, we will provide a brief overview of the impact of stress on the body and learn and practice practical strategies to calm these sensations and feel more in control in times of stress.
Learning Objectives:
· Gain a general understanding of how stress and anxiety are maintained
· Discover and practice concrete techniques to reduce the impact of stress on the body
Session 2 (June 11): Improve Your Thinking
“Change your thoughts, and you change your world.” (Norman Vincent Peale)
In this workshop, we will focus on the process of replacing unhelpful, distorted thinking patterns with ones that promote a more balanced, realistic and sophisticated viewpoint.
Learning Objectives:
· Understand how your thinking patterns influence your feelings, mood, and what you do
· Explore how to replace stress-producing thoughts with more helpful ones
