La deuxième soirée Place Publique « Corps en jeu » débute avec un atelier de fabrication de papier à partir de fibres de quenouille récoltées localement avec Atelier Retailles. La soirée se poursuit avec les performances « Judith » et « At the limit of the otherworldly limit of the world » de Sarah Chouinard-Poirier et Vir Andres Hera, dans lesquelles les corps marginalisés, oubliés ou fragmentés cherchent à se reconstituer, à parler, à résister.
Dans une ambiance festive et rassembleuse, La Picá Chilenita partage ses saveurs chiliennes au rythme d’un DJ set enflammé signé PLZRS.

ATELIER RETAILLES / Fabriquer le papier de quenouille
Dans le cadre d’un atelier d’un atelier ouvert et in situ, les participant·e·s sont invité·e·s à découvrir la fabrication de papier à partir de fibres de quenouille récoltées localement. Chacun·e pourra battre les fibres à la main et former sa propre feuille de papier. Ancrée dans le paysage des milieux humides, l’activité met en valeur la récolte responsable, les matériaux naturels et une approche sensorielle de la création. L’atelier permet à tous les publics de découvrir les gestes de base de la fabrication du papier, entre fibres, eau et cadre.
SARAH CHOUINARD-POIRIER / JUDITH
Quel est cet autre dont la conscience aurait été évacuée du corps, dont on craint le sang et les dents? Sarah Chouinard-Poirier invite à observer la séparation entre l’humain et le moins qu’humain dans JUDITH, une performance où se croisent savoirs situés, spéculation, codes du cinéma, et (une certaine) culture populaire. À partir de son travail communautaire et militant auprès de personnes qui consomment des drogues, Chouinard-Poirier tente de réveiller ses mort-es pour qu’iels rongent les biopouvoirs hygiénistes, racistes et classistes régissant les substances et les corps. Par l’humour, la citation, la confession et l’incarnation, l’artiste interroge le langage et les métaphores issues de l’imaginaire des morts-vivants servant à monétiser la peur de l’autre dans le contexte de la guerre à la drogue.
VIR ANDRES HERA / At the limit of the otherworldly limit of the world
Cette performance prend pour point de départ le puissant poème Zong ! de Marlene NourbeSe Philip. Dans ce texte, l’autrice donne forme à un chaos poétique pour faire entendre les voix des silencieux : celles et ceux jetés par-dessus bord lors de la traversée transatlantique. Pour elle, ces vies englouties continuent d’exister, au-delà de la mort.
En écho à cette démarche, Vir Andres Hera déploie une performance mêlant sons marins, ballroom, cloches, sismographes, voix et boucles sonores. Ces éléments composent un récit polyphonique aux temporalités multiples, où des corps fragmentés tentent de se reconstituer.
Par ce geste, l’artiste cherche à « remembrer » les corps démembrés, à dialoguer avec les morts et à détourner les formes d’archives historiques mobilisées pour légitimer la violence coloniale. S’inspirant de la méthode de déconstruction radicale de NourbeSe Philip, la performance devient alors un espace de résistance, de rituel et de mémoire vivante.
PLZRS
PLZRS cherche à créer un pont entre le public montréalais et la scène musicale underground en pleine effervescence de l’Amérique latine. Le collectif met de l’avant des interprétations avant-gardistes de la nouvelle musique latinx, en explorant les sons du néo-perreo, hyper-reggaeton, latin bass, club latinx, guaracha, et bien plus encore. PLZRS valorise aussi la collaboration intersectionnelle en mettant en lumière des artistes latinx issu·es de divers domaines, notamment les arts visuels et la performance.

The second Place Publique “Corps en jeu” evening kicks off with a paper-making workshop using locally harvested cattail fibres with Atelier Retailles. The evening continues with performances by Judith and At the limit of the otherworldly limit of the world by Sarah Chouinard-Poirier and Vir Andres Hera, in which marginalized, forgotten or fragmented bodies seek to reconstitute themselves, to speak out, to resist.
La Picá Chilenita shares its Chilean flavours in a festive and unifying atmosphere, to the rhythm of a fiery DJ set by PLZRS.

ATELIER RETAILLES / Fabriquer le papier de quenouille
As part of an open, in situ workshop, participants are invited to explore papermaking using cattail fibres harvested locally. Each person will have the opportunity to hand-beat the fibres and form their own sheet of paper. Rooted in the landscape of wetland ecosystems, the activity highlights responsible harvesting, natural materials, and a sensory approach to creation. Open to all, the workshop offers an introduction to the fundamental gestures of papermaking, where fibre, water, and frame come together.
SARAH CHOUINARD-POIRIER / JUDITH
In JUDITH, a performance weaving together situated knowledge, speculation, cinematic codes, and (a certain) pop culture, Sarah Chouinard-Poirier invites us to examine the divide between the human and the less-than-human. Drawing from their community and activist work with people who use drugs, Chouinard-Poirier attempts to awaken their dead—so they might gnaw at the hygienist, racist, and classist biopowers that govern substances and bodies. Through humour, citation, confession, and embodiment, the artist interrogates the language and metaphors of the undead imaginary—those used to monetize fear of the Other in the context of the war on drugs.
VIR ANDRES HERA / At the limit of the otherworldly limit of the world
This performance takes as its starting point Marlene NourbeSe Philip's powerful poem Zong! In this text, the author conjures up a poetic chaos to make heard the voices of the silenced - those thrown overboard during the transatlantic crossing. For her, these sunken lives continue to exist beyond death.
Echoing this approach, Vir Andres Hera deploys a performance that blends ocean sounds, ballroom, bells, seismographs, voices and sound loops, together composing a polyphonic narrative, with multiple temporalities, where fragmented bodies attempt to reconstitute themselves.
Through this gesture, they seek to "re-member" dismembered bodies, to dialogue with the dead, and to hijack the forms of historical archive used to legitimize colonial violence. Drawing on NourbeSe Phillip's method of radical deconstruction, the performance becomes a space of resistance, ritual and living memory.
PLZRS
PLZRS aims to bridge Montreal's audience with the evolving underground music scene of LATAM. The collective showcases avant-garde interpretations of new Latinx music, focusing on the sounds of neo-perreo, hyper-reggaeton, latin-bass, club latinx, guaracha and more. PLZRS also highlights latinx creatives specializing in various domains, including performance and visual arts.
