Annual Meeting, featuring Tim Smith on "Uncle Joe Cannon"

The Piatt County Museum Board of Trustees would like to invite the public to their Annual Meeting Sunday, June 8th, 2:00pm at the Allerton Library, 4000 Green Apple Lane, Monticello.
Timothy Smith, a graduate of Urbana High School and the University of Illinois Law School will be the guest speaker. Timothy is a retired lawyer, a historian and an award winning author. He married Jane Dighton, daughter of late John Timmons Dighton attorney, whose family was one of the early pioneers in Piatt County.
Those in attendance will learn about Joseph G. Cannon, a mon of incredible power and influence as a US Representative and Speaker of the House in Illinois from 1903 - 1911. Joseph became a follower of A. Lincoln, he was against slavery, an advocate for farmers, ahs a building in the Washington DC named for him, featured on the front page of the first Time Magazine, and so much more.
