The Montgomery Military and Veterans Commission is proud to partner with the Alabama Department of Veterans Affairs (ADVA) for this vital mission.
Operation We Remember is an annual, statewide campaign held during National Suicide Prevention Awareness Month to honor and remember Alabama veterans who have lost their lives to suicide. The campaign features a powerful display of American flags, with each flag representing a life lost.
This year, the display will honor the Alabama veterans who died by suicide in 2023. The flag laying ceremony will take place on Tuesday, September 2, at 2 p.m. at Rotary Park behind City Hall downtown.
Our goal is to have 100 military members and veterans attend the ceremony to show our collective support for this cause. Your presence would be greatly appreciated.
To help us with event planning and creating a confirmed attendance list, please reply to this email by Friday, August 19, to let me know if you plan to attend.
Additionally, we are looking for 12 volunteers to assist with laying the flags during the ceremony. If you are able to volunteer, or can recommend someone, please let me know.
Thank you for your continued dedication to our military community.
Sincerely,
Eddie Compton, III
