Connected by Nature - Including animals and nature in mental health services
During the course we explore how animals and nature can be meaningfully integrated into mental health services to support client wellbeing. Participants will learn about the scientific foundations of the human–animal bond and interactions and how animals and natural environments can be used to help emotional regulation, stress reduction, and enhance connection. The course provides a foundational understanding for those interested in animal-assisted approaches in practice.
The course consists of two parts, both are two days long. The first weekend provides the theoretical background behind the human-animal bond and a practical introduction on how to plan and structure interventions with animals and nature. We will invite you to experience first hand of how we include our animals co-therpists (dogs and horses) and nature in interventions. The second part offers practical knowledge on how to work with different clients (children, adults, groups) in different settings including nature and animals in your work.
