There’s something in the water.
This October, two of South Africa’s most distinctive musical forces — the shape-shifting electronic alchemists PLUM and genre-blurring troubadour Nick Turner — converge for one night only at the edge of the Atlantic, in the salt-weathered belly of the Brass Bell, Kalk Bay’s most storied seaside haunt.
PLUM, Known for bold shifts between electronic soundscapes, trip-hop textures, and layered grooves with an alternative drive, Plum carve their own lane in South Africa’s scene. Their shows pulse with energy, balancing intensity with space. Recent performances carry fans into a soundscape powerful and uniquely theirs.
Nick Turner, meanwhile, needs no reintroduction. From the acid-folk days of Sons of Trout to the multilingual mosaics of Mikanic, his solo work continues to distill decades of experience into sharp songwriting laced with reggae, ghoema, and ghost notes of jazz. Still poetic, still political, still fiercely local.
