Summer Art Camps at MAM!
Get ready for an unforgettable summer at the Missoula Art Museum! Our Summer Art Camps offer young artists the chance to learn from professional teaching artists, explore new materials, and find inspiration in nature, sculpture, painting, and more!
Week 1: Raptors and Art
June 16-20 | 10 AM - 12 PM | Ages 7-11
Join Kate Davis & Bev Beck Glueckert for a unique opportunity to create art alongside live raptors! Kids will craft life-sized sculptures and detailed drawings inspired by owls and falcons. (Priority given to first-time campers.)
Week 2: Sculpture – The Magic of Art & Beauty of Nature
June 23-27 | 9 AM - 12 PM | Ages 9-12
Explore sculpture with Patricia Garcia using clay and natural objects. Learn slab making, coil techniques, and hand-building while drawing inspiration from Greenough Park and MAM galleries.
Week 3: Tricks of the Trade
July 7-11 | 9 AM - 12 PM | Ages 6-9
Discover the secrets of artistic illusion with Donna Flanery! Create trompe l’oeil meals, floating sculptures, and dot-based paintings while learning about famous artists and their techniques.
Week 4: Explore Self-Identity Through Art
July 14-18 | 9 AM - 12 PM | Ages 10-12
Led by Krissy Ramirez, this camp invites students to experiment with sketching, composition, and word illustration. The week culminates in a personal self-portrait inspired by MAM exhibitions.
Week 5: Behind the Mask – Papier Mâché Sculpting
July 21-25 | 9 AM - 12 PM | Ages 10-12
Inspired by sci-fi and mythology, Penélope Baquero guides students in creating original character masks, props, and stories using papier mâché and clay.
Week 6: Mystery Books – An Artistic Bookmaking Adventure
July 28 - Aug 1 | 9 AM - 12 PM | Ages 8-11
Young artists will craft their own art books, filled with stories, illustrations, and mini sculptures, guided by Penélope Baquero.
