Familiars and Foes is a 1 to 5 player cooperative style board game that is recommended for ages 10+. There are 2 levels of difficulty and a single game will take 20 - 90 minutes, depending on the number of players and the difficulty setting.
Take the role of a young spell slinging Familiar trying to save their magical mentor. Each fearsome Foe defeated during the four Waves of battle brings you one step closer to victory. With your trusty Toad in tow, you'll bumble your way through new spells, unleash ancient artifacts, and craft crazy combo attacks as you evolve into a Master Spellcaster.
Gameplay is easy to pick up and each character has a variety of actions they can use each turn. When it's the turn of a fellow Familiar, you can play interrupt actions and special abilities to boost their attack or restore their health - or try teaming up for a wicked combo attack. Group strategy is key to winning the game.
Each Familiar is asymmetric and has different strengths & weaknesses. If you complete all the Homework from your Witches and Wizards, you'll unlock your specialized Master Spells. Every game is a unique experience because you will randomly pick several of the 25 Fearsome Foes to battle.
You will be rolling a 20 sided die, flipping the Ballyhoo coin, and spending Magic Points to clobber the Foes. Defeat them all to rescue the Witches and Wizards and win the game. Familiars and Foes is fun for all levels of gamers and is the perfect introduction to more advanced game mechanics.
