Autumn is a fantastic time of year to broaden your wild meat horizons. Come and spend a day learning about different methods and techniques for preparing a variety of game. It's not only tasty and plentiful, but quite often it's FREE and it's also really good for you!
Our Small Game Preparation and Butchery Course will cover β fin (fish), fur (like rabbit and squirrel), and feather (game birds). We'll be having an in depth look at:
How to inspect game meat to make sure it's fit to consume.
Removing the innards.
Skinning techniques.
The knack to plucking (or not) feathered game.
As well as loads of top tips for cooking up a variety of tasty, nutrient packed meals with your game!
We'll keep the tea and coffee flowing throughout the day, and we'll also have different game meats for you to try as we go along hopefully to inspire you to have a go yourself.
These sessions are fun, informative, and really hands-on. By the end of the day you'll be confident and competent to prepare any top-quality, very cost-effective (often free!) game meat you can get your hands on.
The best bit? By joining us, you'll be helping us run free or subsidised sessions for children across Exmoor and the surrounding area. We're passionate about getting youngsters reconnected with their food, farming, and the wonderful nature around us.
The course cost is Β£100 including all game, equipment, refreshments and lunch
