The Carson Valley Arts Council is excited to present the Canadian band the Paperboys. The Paperboys will perform at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda in Minden, at 7 p.m. Friday, May 9, 2025. This is the last concert in CVAC’s 2024-2025 Concert Series.
The Paperboys are musical icons of the Pacific Northwest. The Celtic folk band that singer-songwriter-guitarist Tom Landa founded in Vancouver, B.C., in 1991 now incorporates bluegrass, Mexican and zydeco – to name just a few influences – in its notoriously feel-good show. They have produced 10 albums, written scores for movies and tour across Europe and U.S..
The heart of The Paperboys is a trio of gifted songwriters and musicians: Founder Tom Landa, a fedora-hatted vocalist/guitarist/bandleader who emigrated from Mexico to Canada in his teens; Kalissa Landa, a lifelong fiddler/vocalist with a preternatural command of melody; and Spirit of the West’s flautist/guitarist/vocalist Geoffrey Kelly. Other members of the band are Sam Esecson, Bennet Pullen, and Nick La Riviere.
Tickets are $22 members, $27 general audience, and kids under 18 are free with a paid adult ticket.
