UPDATE TO PARKING- please see notes below!
Join WMAS as we explore Forest Home Cemetery. This beautiful and historic cemetery has offered up some fabulous birds in the past! We will slowly walk 1.5-2 miles. Expect paved paths, some walking in grass, small hills. We are usually there a couple of hours. All experience levels welcome - bring binoculars if you have them, we have a limited number of loaners available. Meet near the Cleveland Ave bridge (see parking info)
Parking: Enter at one of the gates (off Lincoln Ave. or Forest Home Ave). You will be heading to the south end of the cemetery, towards Cleveland Ave. See the map attached to this post- the blueberries are the entry gates; the yellow highlighting shows generally where we should park. We will meet in the general area of the bridge over Cleveland Ave.
NOTE: The office does not open until 10, so no bathroom facilities will be available until the end of the walk.
More about Forest Home Cemetery:
Forest Home is open daily to the public from dawn to dusk. Walkers, joggers, bicycles, leashed dogs and picnickers are welcome, as long as they are respectful of all burial sites, memorials and mounds.
Each year, we host public and private historical and nature-based tours, field trips and teen programs, plus our signature community events: Memorial Day, Doors Open, Dia de los Muertos 5K & Festival, Shakespeare Festival and Spirits of the Silent City after-dark historical tours.
