But playing what?!?!?
Thrillseekers, Boozy Bard is here to present a new level of mystery and surprise and mostly confusion as we attempt Shakespeare Double RAW - Bigger! Boozier! Bardier!
How is this going to work? Assuming it DOES work? Here is the plan anyway:
At the beginning of the show, the names of three plays will be in the hat and one will be picked from it. Then we go into the normal process of the players picking the character names associated with that night’s play from the hat. The actors scramble to remember which play is which (there will be summaries and notes to remind them) as well as which character they have while someone tries to entertain the audience a bit so they can accomplish this lofty goal.
Each night we will reset the plays in the hat so we might end up with the same show every night or a completely different play every night. We don’t know. We. Don't. Know.
The plays up for possible selection are:
As You Like it (romantic comedy where a young lady dresses as a young man to teach her gentleman friend how to woo a lady. This is the one with the wrestling scene in it. Not between the young people in love, between Charles the Wrestler and Orlando.)
Much Ado About Nothing (romantic comedy with the snippy pair that pretend to not like each other when they totally are into each other.)
Taming of the Shrew (romantic comedy where the younger of two daughters can’t be married until her older grumbly sister gets married but she doesn’t want to get married until she does. Not to be taken seriously.)
You remember all these fun favorites, don’t you thrillseekers? You’ll want to see any one of these plays, of course you will. And no the random selection of the play is totally not intentionally a plan to get you to attend all three nights…
You'll have three opportunities to catch this spectacle, August 11th, 12th and 13th all at 7:30pm. Doors officially open at 7pm.
The location? Best Place at the Historic Pabst Brewery. Yeah, the one that looks like a castle. We're doing Shakespeare in a CASTLE!!! A castle with on-street parking. When there isn’t a nearby concert anyway.
Cost is $10 at the door or $5 if you ‘double your fun’. Do you and a friend have the same shirt? If you both wear it, that would be a double. Stuff like that. Bring two of something. Like always it doesn’t have to be complicated, just creative.
And I’m sure that by the end of all this you will feel the same when we say "I do desire we may be better strangers.."
