Milton Country Park, Milton, United Kingdom
Back for the second time with HaverSports is the stunning Cambridge Sprot Lakes Triathlon Festival at the beautiful Milton Country Park, home of Cambridge Sport Lakes just north of the city and with easy access to the A14. Once again we will offer a choice of two different distances; Sprint or Standard, which use the same route to ensure a cracking atmosphere for competitors!
This event is organised by HaverSports and will be raising funds for the excellent work at Milton Country Park.
Event Schedule
Standard Tri - Sunday 8:30am
Relay Tri - Sunday 8:30am
Sprint Tri - Sunday 9:30am
Details are below. Registration and transition will open at 7:30am.
Swim
The swim stage is lake based with wave starts of approximately 100 competitors. There is a simple loop (depending on distance) with a separate water entry and exit point. The large wave starts mean this is certain to be an exciting event throughout! Transition is a short through the forest and is centrally placed to ensure that there will be plenty of places for supporters to cheer everybody on!
If for any reason we are unable to offer the swim (such as bluegreen algae making it unsafe) then we will use an alternative lake in the park or run the event as a duathlon instead. This swim is in a lake, so please do not swim if you have any open wounds.
Bike
You will exit at the rear of the park and mount on Fen Road, heading straight down here to cross onto Landbeach Road. There is a timing system at the A10 to pause your race time to allow a safe crossing. After crossing, you will pass through Landbeach and turn left onto Cottenham Road, joining Beach Road and Denmark Road to then turn left in Cottenham. The two routes are out-and-back routes with a loop at the end, both with the same start but the Standard going further into rural Cambridgeshire.
Sprint
You will turn right at the first mini roundabout and left at the second to head out on Rampton Road and Church End into Rampton. You will left onto King Street and then right onto The Green to return back the way you came.
Standard
You will turn right at the first mini roundabout and left at the second to head out on Rampton Road and Church End into Rampton. You will take Rampton Road and Church End into Rampton, then continue into Willingham. You will remain on Rampton Road as it becomes Rampton End, Green Street, and Church Street, before taking a right onto George Street. You will take the B1050 Earith Road north and then turn left onto the A1123 to enter Earith. You will take a right onto Bridge End, a left onto Chapel Road, another left onto the B1050, and then a third left onto A1123 High Street to return back the way you came.
You can see the Sprint route by clicking here and the Standard route by clicking here.
Run
The run route is laps around the park, utilising forest footpaths to weave around the country park and proffer views of the other lakes in the park too. The Sprint route will both be two laps, and the standard will be four laps.
You can see the Shere and the Standard route here.
Aquabike
You will start the swim at the same time as the triathletes. Once you have completed you cycle and racked your bike in transition you can exit to immediately cross the finish line and complete your race.
Timing & Other Details
The event will be chip timed with splits for each section and live online results. Medals will be available for finishers with trophies for overall winners and category winners.
Haversports prides itself on friendly events and this will be no exception. We love to help people enjoy their race and are keen to make this a great event, which we hope to grow in years to come. We always welcome volunteers to help at events, so if you have anyone coming with you please do encourage them to get involved if they can!
Refunds/deferrals - we are using your entry fee money to cover the costs of the race and raise money for our beneficiary charity. We understand that unexpected accidents may impact your ability to race though, and so if you need us to we will defer your entry to any of our events later that year or the following year so you do not miss out.
