Join us for Land Snorkeling 101, a hands-on, ranger-led adventure designed for curious minds of all ages. Instead of diving into the ocean, we’ll be diving into the leaf litter layer where fascinating creatures like fungi, worms, and beetles thrive, all playing a crucial role in keeping the forest healthy.
In this program, you’ll use magnifying lenses to get up close and personal with the tiny critters that live beneath our feet. We’ll go beyond just looking—we’ll learn about the incredible ecosystems that exist in the soil and how these small creatures contribute to the health of the entire forest.
What to Expect:
Guided Exploration: Learn how to “land snorkel” as you explore the forest floor with your ranger guide.
Hands-On Discovery: Use hand lenses to identify and observe organisms, such as decomposers, and understand their vital role in nature.
Fun Activities: Participate in the Soil Safari Challenge, a scavenger hunt for critters, and practice the “Critter Care Code” to explore safely and respectfully.
Group Discussion: Share your discoveries with others in a fun and interactive show-and-tell session.
Who Should Attend:
This program is ideal for children ages 8–12. A parent or guardian must attend with each child under 18. Younger siblings are welcome with supervision.
