WORKSHOP SIMON CRACKER – “SURVIVING WITH GRACE” Raccontarsi con l’upcycling

Un laboratorio intensivo di due giorni dedicato alla pratica dell’upcycling come strumento narrativo e manifesto di identità. I partecipanti lavoreranno con abiti di seconda mano, scarti industriali e rimanenze di mercerie, trasformandoli in creazioni imperfette ma dense di significato, guidati da Simone Botte.

Il workshop si aprirà con una sessione introduttiva dedicata al brand e alla filosofia di Simon Cracker, seguita da un momento di confronto e domande. I partecipanti saranno invitati a costruire un mood personale attraverso parole e immagini di riferimento, da tradurre poi in un capo-manifesto unico.

Il secondo giorno sarà interamente dedicato alla realizzazione: dall’assemblaggio dei materiali con macchine da cucire, forbici e colla a caldo, fino alla fase finale di presentazione e shooting, in cui ogni creazione sarà indossata e raccontata insieme al proprio manifesto.

L’obiettivo del workshop è ribaltare la percezione comune della moda come ambiente tossico, proponendo invece un approccio olistico ed emozionante alla materia. Come ricorda lo stesso Simone: “la gente conosce il costo di tutto ma il reale valore di nulla”.

Al termine, le creazioni verranno inserite nello swap market del festival Madeback (15-17 ottobre), presso il Living Lab – TooCoolToGoWasted (Dipartimento di Design), Ed. B4, Campus Bovisa Durando – Politecnico di Milano, dove potranno essere scambiate o adottate dai visitatori, trovando nuova vita.

WORKSHOP SIMON CRACKER – “SURVIVING WITH GRACE”Telling Your Story Through Upcycling

A two-day intensive workshop dedicated to upcycling as a narrative practice and a manifesto of identity. Participants will work with second-hand clothing, industrial scraps, and leftover haberdashery materials, transforming them into imperfect creations full of meaning, guided by Simone Botte.

The workshop will begin with an introductory session focused on the Simon Cracker brand and philosophy, followed by a discussion and Q&A. Participants will be invited to develop a personal mood through reference words and images, which will then be translated into a unique manifesto-garment.

The second day will be entirely dedicated to production: assembling materials using sewing machines, scissors, and hot glue, culminating in a presentation and photoshoot where each creation will be worn and shared alongside its manifesto.

The goal of the workshop is to challenge the common perception of fashion as a toxic environment, proposing instead a holistic and engaging approach to the craft. As Simone himself reminds us: “People know the price of everything but the real value of nothing.”

At the end, the creations will be included in the Madeback festival swap market (October 15–17) at the Living Lab – TooCoolToGoWasted (Department of Design), Ed. B4, Campus Bovisa Durando – Politecnico di Milano, where they can be exchanged or adopted by visitors, giving the pieces a new life.
