MIMA, Middlesbrough Institute of Modern Art, warmly invites you, your family, and your friends to our upcoming Art + Social event on Thursday 26 March, from 17:00-19:00.

This seasons Art + Social is packed full of opportunities to meet artists, play, and enjoy the evening with friends and friends you haven’t met yet.
The evening will include integrated BSL interpretation and will be photographed by Nana Kofi Asamoah-Adu.
Throughout the Building
Students from Teesside University’s BA Fine Art and Photography programmes respond to the current Middlesbrough Collection exhibition, In Motion. Their work spans a range of media and offers fresh perspectives on our celebrated collection artworks
Atrium, Ground Floor
17:00 – 17:30 Welcome by Dr. Laura Sillars, MIMA’s Director and Dean of Culture and Creativity at Teesside University, and special introductions from Helen Welford, Head of Programme at MIMA, and Professor Simon McKeown, guest artist and academic at Teesside University.
Professor Simon McKeown presents Images of Disability, an exhibition of historical and contemporary images and texts revitalising creative disability research and practice.
DJ & artist Sally Rodgers (AMCA) will perform a live guest mix specially curated for the evening. Expect a mix of ambient, Italio-disco, and post-punk art-pop.
Galleries, Ground Floor
Desire Lines: Art, Place & Possibilities. This exhibition considers how might artists shape the future of a place, and what we desire for that future.
17:30 – 18:30 Featured artist Errol Theunissen, whose art captures everyday experiences, will be available over the evening to take questions about his works on display in Desire Lines: Art Places & Possibilities
Project Space, First Floor
Stories of the Middlesbrough Collection traces key moments in the development of the Middlesbrough Collection.
Events Space, Second Floor
17:30 – 18:45 Lady Kitt, Disabled Sculptor and Drag King, invites you to sculpt and craft huge sheets of paper into collaborative cocoons using your whole body. “Dancing with Paper” is a moment to play and explore.
Gallery Five, Second Floor
In Motion – Middlesbrough Collection showcases artists from the Middlesbrough Collection who challenge perspectives and deepen our understanding of the world and our place within it.
Open Access Collection Store, Third Floor
