The Miami Regional Airport, situated in the northwest area of Miami, Oklahoma, spans approximately 300 acres and holds significant potential for becoming a hub of aeronautical development. As the aviation industry continues to expand, regional airports like Miami Regional can play a crucial role in fostering economic growth and innovation within their communities. By focusing on aeronautical development, the airport could attract a range of aviation-related businesses, from aircraft maintenance and repair facilities to flight training schools and aerospace manufacturing companies. This would not only create jobs and boost the local economy but also enhance the airport's infrastructure and connectivity. By investing in modern facilities and collaborating with stakeholders, Miami Regional Airport has the opportunity to transform into a dynamic center for aviation excellence.
With its 28 rentable hangars and a jet pad, the airport is well-equipped to serve a range of aviation needs. The asphalt runway, designated 17/35, stretches 5,020 feet in length and 100 feet in width, offering ample space for takeoff and landing operations. This runway supports a load capacity of up to 22,000 lbs for single axle and 44,000 lbs for double axle aircraft, making it suitable for accommodating a variety of larger aircraft. This combination of facilities not only ensures efficient operations but also offers flexibility for different types of aircraft and aviation activities, catering to both private and commercial aviation demands.
They also cater to all your fueling and ground service needs with both Avgas and JetA available for self-service or full-service options and proudly accept major credit cards and FuelMaster, ensuring a seamless transaction process.
Airport History:
The Miami Regional Airport (KMIO) in Oklahomaopened in December 1937with two concrete runways. It was initially a city-owned, public-use airport located in the northwest area of Miami. During World War II, the United States Army Air Forces took over the facility, using it for British Flying Training School and later as a primary pilot training airfield. After the war, it returned to civil control and saw some scheduled airline flights.
