On June 13, 2025, the Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center will host a vibrant encounter between visual arts and contemporary Brazilian music.
The date marks the opening of the exhibition “De-construcción”, featuring works by the artists from Goiás, Gerson Fogaça and Sandro Tôrres, as well as the international debut of the show “Rock & Raiz – Musical Connections from Goiás”, led by Nila Branco and Al-mir Pessoa. Both events are free and open to the public.
The “De-construcción” exhibition arrives in Miami, continuing its mission of fostering intercultural dialogue through contemporary art. Curated by Dayalis González Perdomo, the show features around 20 pieces that explore the processes of deconstruction and re-construction of the image in contemporary painting. Through fragmentation and visual recombination, the artists create narratives that oscillate between figuration and abstrac-tion, inviting the audience into a deeply sensory and conceptual experience.
Gerson Fogaça, born in the historic city of Goiás in 1967, is a renowned visual artist with a significant track record in both national and international exhibitions. He has par-ticipated in exhibitions in Brasília, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador, as well as in countries such as Germany, Mexico, Spain, Belgium, Argentina, Chile, the United States, France, and Bolivia. In 2024, he exhibited at the MOCAA (Museum of Contemporary Art of the Americas) in Miami and at Centro Cultural Futurama in Mexico City. In 2025, he presented the exhibition “Liquid Cities” at the Sanger Gallery, the main space of The Stu-dios of Key West in Florida. In addition to the Miami show, he is also scheduled to exhibit in Spain, Argentina, and Mexico.
Sandro Tôrres, born in Goiânia in 1970, is a visual artist, writer, and holds a master’s degree in Art History from the Federal University of Goiás (UFG). His diverse background includes studies in Law, Literature, Film, Advertising, and Television. Tôrres has built a career marked by visual experimentation and dialogue with multiple media, resulting in a conceptual and multifaceted body of work. He has participated in numerous solo and group exhibitions, and his artworks are part of both public and private collections, ad-dressing themes such as identity, memory, and urban transformation.
Complementing the program, the show “Rock & Raiz” offers a surprising fusion between the energy of rock and the roots of traditional Brazilian caipira music. On stage, the powerful voice of singer Nila Branco—whose songs have featured in Brazilian soap oper-as—meets the refined technique of guitarist Almir Pessoa, delivering a contemporary and popular performance. The show includes bold versions of classics such as “Índia” and “Another Brick in the Wall”. After its Miami premiere, the tour will continue with per-formances in Goiás and Goiânia, Brazil.
The international debut of these projects marks a new phase in the cultural exchange be-tween Brazil and the United States, reinforcing the strength and diversity of contempo-rary Brazilian art. The events are supported by the G.A.L.A Foundation, based in Miami, which is dedicated to promoting Latin American artistic expression in the U.S.
