Clinic Overview:
This two-day clinic is all about taking your ranch riding and versatility skills to the next level—even without live cattle. We’ll use the flag, dry work drills, and small-pen scenarios to help riders and horses become quicker-thinking, more responsive, and better prepared for the kinds of real-world work you'd see at a branding or sort.
Whether you're headed to a show, preparing for the branding pen, or just want a more refined and efficient working partner, this weekend will help you and your horse get there—no cows needed.
Clinic Format & Pricing
Day 1: Taste of Ranch Versatility
$175 | Open to riders comfortable at the walk, trot, and lope
A strong foundation day focused on practical ranch maneuvers, rider effectiveness, and learning how to direct energy and speed with purpose.
+Morning Session: Speed with a Job
-Working the flag to improve timing, focus, and responsiveness
-Drills to harness speed into stops, turns, and transitions
-Rein-less exercises: using your seat and body to guide your horse
+Afternoon Session: Big vs Small Space Control
-Covering ground in the open and in tight spaces.
- Small-pen maneuvers for sorting simulation
- Working the flag to mimic position and control in small pens
Day 2: Branding Pen Concepts & Teamwork Focus
$175 | Must attend Day 1 to participate
A deeper dive into tasks that simulate branding pen work using dry work, teamwork drills, and mock scenarios.
+Morning Session: Branding Setup Drills
-Setting up shots and positioning without live cattle
-Moving in a group with awareness and calm control
-Reading space, angles, and staying out of the “wreck” zone
+Afternoon Session: Mock Branding & Sorting Practice
-Continued flag work to simulate angles and movement
-Simulated roping shot setups (dry work only)
-Team exercises to develop communication and timing
-Gate work, sorting drills, and mock branding scenarios using cones or barrels
