LINO CLUB - BOOKINGS ESSENTIAL (Limited number)
Held at Samantha Thompson Studio
Linoclub is for everyone! You will learn the basics of printmaking and mixed media to beginners, or bring a piece to work on every-month, and build your skill set in the company of like mined creatives.
And yes! Kids are welcome, in my experience Lino can be cut by kids around 8 years old, younger than this and they generally don't have the strength (or patience) So bring your kids with you.
Everyone will receive some Lino, Paper, Ink, tools and general art supplies to use and create a piece. A A1 press will be available or learn to hand print. Linocut is like a stamp, that you make your own design on.
The workshops are an informal gathering of art, learning and community. Please bring some lunch, or there is a small milkbar within walking distance, and a park and oval down the road.
LINOCLUB costs $50 to attend for non BOP members, or $30 for Members.
Max of 5 People - there is a general studio, and a seperate print room set up with a big press and table to roll out inks, there is also a drying rack.
Facilitator - Samantha Thompson is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and regional arts advocate based in regional Victoria, Australia. With a highly successful career spanning over 25 years, Thompson is renowned for her vibrant, playful artworks. Thompson has exhibited in numerous galleries across Australia and produced 22 solo exhibitions since 2003. She has also exhibited internationally, and her works can be found in private and public collections.
Thompson’s diverse oeuvre includes textile art, printmaking, mixed media, and most recently, soft sculpture and performance. With bold, uninterrupted lines, playful themes, and strong aesthetics, Thompson’s works are a fluent expression of her optimism and originality. Her layered domestic scenes and confident use of patterns pay homage to her formative studies in traditional textile techniques and family craft. This unique blend of practical skill and personality has paved the way for her recent boundary-pushing ‘Relationship to play’ series, which examines why and when adults play, and encourages us to embrace more of a playful attitude.
